Common Concerns
What if my child doesn't like the food?

The different foods your child will enjoy on a Student Ambassador journey reflect the culture and traditions of the destinations. Trying new foods is a fun way to experience unique cultures and an opportunity for personal growth.

Most delegation meals include a choice of items or a buffet of selections, so your child should be able to find foods he or she enjoys. During home stays with our selected host families, we encourage Student Ambassadors to try the food and politely decline items they do not prefer.

Student Ambassadors often find themselves enjoying foods they would never have tried at home, much to their parents' surprise.

Back

The Student Ambassador journey begins long before departure.

You and your child will attend six two-hour orientation meetings to prepare during the months before the delegation embarks on the Student Ambassador journey.

In addition to learning the details of the journey and the destination, your family will meet fellow delegates and their families. You will get to know your area delegation leaders and observe how they supervise the delegates. For many Student Ambassadors, lifelong friendships begin at the very first meeting.

Count on these informative, interactive orientation meetings to help you:
  • Learn about the culture and history of your child's destination
  • Find out just what to pack
  • Review all air and land travel details
  • Answer any other questions you or your child may have about the journey
  • Meet delegation leaders and see them in action
