Preparing for a Student Ambassador journey
How much money should my child bring?

Although student spending varies by destination, we recommend bringing $20 to $25 per day. It can be helpful to have a few dollars in American cash for airport snacks as well as a mixture of foreign currency, traveler's checks and credit cards.

In coordination with Wells Fargo Bank, enrolled Student Ambassadors now have the opportunity to order foreign currency through the People to People website. We are providing this service to save your family time and effort, while furnishing the security and peace of mind that comes with ordering currency through a national United States bank.

The Student Ambassador journey begins long before departure.

and your child will attend four two-hour orientation meetings to prepare during the months before the delegation embarks on the Student Ambassador journey.

In addition to learning the details of the journey and the destination, your family will meet fellow delegates and their families. You will get to know your area delegation leaders and observe how they supervise the delegates. For many Student Ambassadors, lifelong friendships begin at the very first meeting.

Count on these informative, interactive orientation meetings to help you:

  • Learn about the culture and history of your child's destination
  • Find out just what to pack
  • Review all air and land travel details
  • Answer any other questions you or your child may have about the journey
  • Meet delegation leaders and see them in action
